On Wednesday, December 6, the Levittown Retired Teachers (LRT) welcomed retirees and special guests to Domenico’s restaurant in Levittown for their annual winter luncheon.

The highlight of the luncheon was the performance by the MacArthur High School vocal group, MacApella, under the direction of Lisa Levenberg. Their rendition of festive songs touched the hearts of the retired teachers and got everyone in attendance into the holiday spirit.

The Levittown Retired Teachers were happy to welcome two guest speakers to their winter luncheon: Levittown District Superintendent of Schools, Todd Winch and Levittown United Teachers President, John Caulfield. Both gentlemen spoke beautifully about what a wonderful district Levittown is to work in and the positive relationship the district has with the union. Caulfield and Winch also commented about the fact that negotiations on the next LUT contract were moving along and that, at this stage, there are no apparent large issues that will need to be worked out.

At the end of the luncheon, the LRT raffled off several prizes with the holiday spirit fully in mind. Following the luncheon, several members of the LRT took part in the annual Levittown District Memorial Mass at St. Bernard’s church.

The LUT Officers wish to especially thank Marilyn Cote for taking photos (some of which are in this newsletter!) and Iris McKenna for getting everyone at the meeting signed in. The next LRT luncheon and meeting will take place on May 8.
