The COVID-19 pandemic created unprecedented challenges for teachers and support staff, students and parents. Over the past few months, the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) turned those challenges into an opportunity to look at what public education could be and should be in the 21st century.
Bringing together education professionals from across the state, NYSUT formed the Future Forward Task Force in order to come up with ideas on how to best support public schools to build a brighter future for students. Over several months, the task force put together a list of priorities for what the future of public education should be in our state now and in the years to come.
