Some wonderful things are finally happening in education!!!
As another year comes to an end, I would like us all to reflect on our hard work and the positive results our labor has finally yielded.  However, I also want to urge you to continue to be mindful of the future.

Due to our efforts, we have seen a positive shift in the mindset of those who influence education policy in New York.  This is major progress, but we need to keep the pressure on those legislators who turned their backs on our profession and public education in New York.  We need to double our efforts in 2016 and VOTE!  We need to send a message and not relent until those responsible, restore dignity to our profession and reasonable standards for our students.

Locally, a much different picture can be painted.  I am reminded every day how fortunate we are to work in a district such as Levittown and how proud I am to represent almost 900 dedicated and hardworking educators.

Your efforts impact this community beyond the classroom.  This year we have seen teachers raise $4,000 towards breast cancer awareness, organize numerous toy & coat drives, participate in PTA fund raisers, restock food pantries, cut their hair for cancer, support our military, and donate numerous items such as prom dresses, pajamas, toiletries and gifts to countless families in Levittown.  Although I know these good deeds are not motivated by a need for recognition, I want you to know that they do not go unnoticed.

On behalf of all the officers of the LUT, I wish you and your families a wonderful holiday season.  I hope you get the much needed rest that you all deserve.  Thank you for all that you do!
