For the first time since the start of the COVID pandemic, the Levittown Retired Teachers (LRT) held a meeting in person. The meeting took place on September 29 at Domenico’s restaurant in Levittown.

The guest speaker at the meeting was LUT President, John Caulfield. Caulfield welcomed former members of the LUT who have now retired and transitioned to the LRT. He also commended the LRT for all of the hard work the organization has done in support of the labor movement and public education in the Levittown school district.

At the meeting, the LRT reelected Jean Fontana as President, and Tammy Green as Vice President. It was also decided that Rosemary Pace and Santa (Palumbo) Darmiento will share responsibilities as Recording Secretary.

Besides renewing acquaintances, and welcoming new retirees, the LRT collected over $400 for Making Strides in Breast Cancer and will be contributing it towards the total raised by the LUT during Breast Cancer Awareness month.

In other news related to the LRT, LRT President, Jean Fontana, was informed recently that Armand Tarantelli, a retired teacher who taught Industrial Arts at Division Avenue for many years, will be honored at halftime at the annual Army vs. Navy football game on December 11. Congratulations Armand on this well-deserved recognition.
