A lot of people talk about "getting involved," but few people have the strength and conviction to actually step up and go for it.

Baldwin reading teacher, Christine Pellegrino, is one of those special people.
Christine is running for election in New York State Assembly District 9. A special election for this seat will be held on Tuesday, May 23.

District 9 covers parts of Seaford, Amityville, West Babylon, Babylon, West Islip and Bay Shore. Check this map for more specific district lines to see if Christine is running in the district where you are a resident.

Christine Pellegrino is one of us - a teacher, a working mom, a leader in a parent's right to opt-out their children from state tests, and a loyal unionist who has a reputation not just for strong words, but for putting those words into action.

Christine is exactly the type of leader we need in Albany to help shape the discussion on education away from politics and corporate interests and towards reforms that will really improve things in our classrooms.

The LUT is asking for your help to elect Christine Pellegrino to the New York State Assembly.
  • If you live in Assembly District 9, please get out and vote for Christine Pellegrino on Tuesday, May 23 and encourage friends, neighbors and family members to do the same
  • Volunteer at a union phone bank at the NYSUT Regional Office. Phone banks before the election will take place from 3 to 6pm on May 17, 18 and 22.
  • Volunteer to knock on doors and distribute campaign literature on May 20 and 21
For more information on this important election, contact LUT Political Action VP, John Lipani (Lip11@aol.com), or the Political Action Liaison in your building.
