For many years, the LUT has taken part in several activities during Breast Cancer Awareness month and will continue to do so this year. Taking over for Tracy Smith who led activities for many years, Andrea Fitzpatrick from Abbey Lane schools is taking over as out LUT liaison. Andrea will inform our membership of fundraising and opportunities to raise awareness and coordinate our efforts.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue bringing people together to show support and raise funds for both research and patient care,” Fitzpatrick said in introducing herself. “Like many of us, breast cancer has hit close.”

In June 2020, Fitzpatrick’s 25-year-old daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer. She spent the last year in chemotherapy treatments, surgeries, and recovery. Thankfully, today she is cancer free.

On Sunday, October 17, members of the LUT will be participating in the Making Strides of Long Island walkathon at Jones Beach State Park. For information about that event, scan the QR code in the image above with your cell phone camera or click here.

In addition to the walkathon, the LUT is inviting everyone to consider donating to the American Cancer Society. Donations can be made online by clicking here
