Unions Remain Strong Despite SCOTUS Ruling

As we all sit back and enjoy a well-deserved summer break, we can do so with the knowledge that, regardless of a decision by our Supreme Court, the resolve and conviction of unionists is in full force in our state and around the country.

"In fact, in the two weeks since the Janus decision, just nine members quit NYSUT.  In contrast, more than 9,000 members signed new cards re-committing to the union, even as another 1,300 fee-payers - who previously were not full-fledged members - have decided to join NYSUT, some for the first time." - NYSUT President, Andy Pallotta

In this newsletter, you will be invited to read articles and take a look at items of interest regarding the recent attacks on our union from big money corporations and the responses to those attacks by those who support the union worker.

For example, in a recent opinion piece in the Poughkeepsie Journal, NYSUT President, Andy Pallotta, explains that across the country union membership has actually strengthened. Union members are banding together in a show of solidarity that rivals any such movement in recent memory.

As always, keeping ourselves informed on the issues and being our own best advocates for our union and our profession is the best way to combat attacks by those whose financial and political interests are enhanced by knocking us down.
Enjoy the rest of your summer. Stay union strong!
