Happy Labor Day

This weekend we celebrate the workers holiday, Labor Day. For teachers, Labor Day also means the end of summer and the beginning of a new and exciting school year. For union members, this holiday is also an important day to remember that the great jobs and benefits that we have were not just given to us, but they were fought for. I know a lot of members have heard from our retirees who spoke about what it was like to go on strike and it is thanks to them that we have many of the benefits that we take for granted every day.

Our members continue this tradition by being great union members, working hard, and mentoring the next generation of union educators. With school coming back next week, I encourage our more senior members to take a young teacher under their wing and talk to them about the importance of being a good and active member of LUT. Happy Labor Day and I look forward to seeing everyone next week.
