This message is reprinted from an email sent to ALSA and LUT members on Friday, October 2.
Back in March, the Board voted to adopt a separation/retirement incentive. The terms and conditions of the incentive will be available to LUT and ALSA members and honored for the 2019-2020 and the 2020-2021 school years. This incentive will be available to those teachers, teaching assistants and administrators who meet the eligibility requirements set forth in the agreement.
In order for this incentive to be activated, we will need a combined 16 teachers and ALSA members to separate/retire as of June 30th, 2021, excluding teaching assistants.
At this time, if you are interested in separating/retiring from the district as of June 30th, 2021, please email Debbie Rifkin to request a packet as soon as possible. This packet contains time sensitive material and will need to be returned on or before December 15th, 2020. The packet will contain all the necessary instructions and documentation required to separate from the district. This documentation has been reviewed and accepted by LUT, ALSA and NYSUT.
Sometime in the near future we, along with Debbie Rifkin, will be holding a meeting to answer your questions. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to call the Union Office with any questions at (516) 796-5660.
This is another excellent opportunity for our members and one that does not come around too often!!!
Thank you to Mrs. Marenghi and the Board of Education, and Dr. McDonald and the Central Office staff for working in collaboration with the LUT and ALSA leadership to make this wonderful opportunity available to our members for another year!
